Seven Layer Tea !
Tea is a very common and habitual drink for the Bangladeshi people and there are a lot of variations can be seen. Seven layered tea is a special and unique item among all. It is also known as Nilkontho Cha and mainly found in Srimongal, Sylhet, Bangladesh.
The drink made at Nilkantha Tea Cabin, in rural Bangladesh serves the drink for as little as around £1. Mr. Gour invented this colorful layered tea. According to him he found that teas from different leaves have different densities. It took a year of experimenting before he could sell teas with more than two layers. Over the years, he learned to expand to seven. Each layer of the tea has it’s own distinct colour and taste, being poured on top of each other to create the seven distinctive bands. When consuming, drinkers sip slowly trying to figure out what each layer will contain and what the taste could be made by.The top layer of the seven layered tea has hints of cinnamon, the layer below has a slight circus flavor to it. The fourth layer from the top and bottom layer get the most reaction from the customer. The fourth layer is a black tea mixed with condensed milk, while the bottom layer is a sweet, syrupy green tea with cloves, cinnamon and “secret spices”.
